Can my employer use the Furlough scheme to pay my notice or redundancy pay?

This was possible prior to December 2020 when the Government changed the rules preventing the use of furlough to pay notice from 1 December 2020.

Redundancy consultation periods can take place under the furlough scheme.

Notice pay cannot be claimed under the scheme – its does not matter what triggered the notice period e.g. redundancy or notice given by employee.

As before, payments in lieu of notice and redundancy payments cannot be reclaimed back under the scheme.
